“Everybody has a home team: It’s the people you call when you get a flat tire or when something terrible happens. It’s the people who, near or far, know everything that’s wrong with you and love you anyways. These are the ones who tell you their secrets, who get themselves a glass of water without asking when they’re at your house. These are the people who cry when you cry. These are your people, your middle-of-the-night, no-matter-what people.” -Shauna Niequist
I was talking to my friend Emily about this, about the people that have chosen you through the thickest of times, to be your people. Who chose to let you know that no matter what, there’s nothing that you can do to make them love you less. I thrive when it comes to deep friendships, the ones that you can’t hide from, the ones that seek you out in the weakest moments. The ones that seek you out when they need you. There’s a mutual level of understanding that you’re their people and they’re yours. There’s a peace that comes from knowing they they’re not going anywhere, even though certain things may change. I was talking about how I have my best of best friends, who’s been around for 7 years.. We’ve seen each other through so much life. You know that they say ((whoever they are)) that after 7 years of intentional friendship, you’re pretty much guaranteed to be friends for life. So needless to say she’s on my home team. These people show up for me, and I for them. no. matter. what.
